Fran Halsall claimed England's first gold medal, while Liam Tancock earned them the second gold with a Games record at the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi at Dr S.P. Mukherjee Acquatics Complex yesterday.
Day two of Swimming saw England bag two gold and two silver, while Australia bagged 1-5-3.
South Africa and Scotland clinched one gold each.
Halsall won the gold with 26.24 seconds, ahead of Australian world champion Marieke Guehrer (26.27) in the women's 50m butterfly. Australia also bagged the bronze through Emily Seebohm (26.29).
Liam Tancock then cruised to men's 50m backstroke gold in a Games record time of 24.62, a performance that cleared his 2006 standard of 24.84.
