Delhi takes games in its stride!

Atlast, a day after the CWG stunned the world with a spectacular and flawless opening ceremony, Delhiites have taken the games in their stride. The adverse publicity emanating from New Delhi till now was perhaps indicating that the people have not yet embraced the Games!

But now, they are walking around proud of the feat accomplised last night. Common people on street corners were heard inquiring from each other if they 'saw' the ceremony! 'Kamal kar diya' (They have done something wonderful)

Meanwhile, traffic restrictions have been tightened, but people are taking it sportingly even if they have to drive a few extra blocks, especially around the stadium.

There are is a heavy presence of 'reminders' that they have to be on their best behaviour, what with the huge red buses with sportsmen and women rushing around on the Delhi roads. Some sportsmen are even seen practising in grounds which are spread all across the city, so in a day everyone who steps out of their homes can see some or the other of such reminders.

  1. Sounds very much like what happened during the Asiad in '82...
