Finally Mike Fennell, the CWG chief has ordered an inquiry into the 'missing spectators' debacle and wants to know by Sunday, where all the tickets are.
The lame excuse being given is that a number of tickets were actually 'complimentary tickets' for corporates and they haven't turned up! But actually many TV cameras caught people outside the venues selling tickets in black. In one such expose it was revealed that the tickets being sold were actually not even proper tickets, but sample tickets!
Meanwhile, ive heard a number of people say they tried to go to see some event, but were turned away, being told that there are no tickets and its 'housefull' inside.
Also a couple of my friends have been trying unsuccesfully to book tickets for the swimming diving events in which Mathew Mitcham, the only Out gay athlete is participating. The 22 year old represents England and has quite a fan following.
Unfortunately all tickets are sold out for his event on Sunday, now there were only few tickets for tuesday and two for wednesday available a little while ago. Even though the press has reported that the swimming stadium will come alive with rainbow colors as the LGBT community will come to support Mitcham. Sorry, there would be no such spectacle....thanks to Fennell and co, there are no tickets for us to go enmasse! Going in twos or threes wont be the same.
But these games are supposed to be most Gay friendly as rainbow colors seem to have been adopted by the OC. Secondly, the very slogan of the games 'Come OUT and PLAY', might be encouraging all those in the closet!
